The Practical Part

Let’s take me, as an example. I think that will be more relatable than some fictionalized Sassy Suzie Sunshine for the purposes of this story.

I want to be a food writer. I don’t have clips, experience, contacts. Nada.

Food blogs take a lot of time, effort & energy to build. I will totally have one in the future but now is not the time.

This interest needs an outlet though! And experience benefiting my future food writing career would be lovely.

So Caitlin sits around, creating meals, dishes, flavors, absorbing facts and writing stories in her head. Strangling on un-used creativity. Possibly rupturing something.

Is this healthy for a person? No! Does anyone benefit from this? No!

But guess what she can do? She can apply for a part-time volunteer position writing about food. Perhaps interviewing refugee restaurant owners and writing about their work. Perhaps contributing to a handout on cheap, deliciously nutritious meals for low-income families.

There are so many ways to help the community with this hack! Let your imagination (and local Google searches) run wild!
