I Don’t Know How You Want Me To Be, So I Freeze

Learning social mores-they ask for truth & don’t always want it.

Poems from my younger self, when I was beginning to navigate being a whole person. Not a recluse. Not some form of another as they yank my puppet strings. It is so hard to start to learn when being yourself makes people uncomfortable in a healthy way and when it’s in a toxic way.

But hey, it’s a journey. I’m still learning.

Where is the line?

Between honesty

And intruding on your comfort zone

You called it “oversharing”

What even is that?

I was telling the truth

Which seems to be wrong

What is the social more here?

Because I don’t know

And no one will tell me

I can’t hang suspended

In the empty, thin air

“The fool tries to adjust the truth so he does not have to adjust to it.”
